Grandmaster Leonardo Tristán, born in Necochea, Argentina, in 1989, is one of the standout representatives of the current generation of Argentine chess. He officially earned his Grandmaster title in 2020 and reached a peak Elo rating of 2561.
Among his career highlights, he finished as runner-up in the 2021 Argentine Championship after playing a tiebreak for the title against GM Fernando Peralta. He also represented the Argentine national team at the Chennai Chess Olympiad in 2022.
In 2025, he won the 54th Mar del Plata International Open, one of Argentina's most traditional open tournaments, scoring 8 points out of 9. His background combines a strong presence in top Argentine tournaments with extensive international competitive experience.
