A complete journey through the Queen's Gambit to master its strategic ideas, structures, and key plans. From the Accepted and Declined to the Exchange Variation and minority attack, with a practical focus and classic examples.
The Queen's Gambit is one of the most important and enriching openings in chess history. In this course you will explore its main structures, strategic ideas, and plans, aiming to understand not just what to play, but why. Over six sessions, GMs Andrés Rodríguez and Alejandro Hoffman approach the Queen's Gambit from different angles: the central challenge posed by the c4 pawn, the structures of the Slav and Semi-Slav, practical repertoire preparation, the Queen's Gambit Accepted, great classic games of the Queen's Gambit Declined, and one of its most iconic strategic plans: the Exchange Variation with the minority attack. The course combines strategic concepts, repertoire, decision-making, and model game analysis, with the goal of helping students recognize typical structures and play with greater confidence with both white and against various defensive setups. It is specially designed for intermediate and advanced players who want to deepen their understanding of queen's pawn play and build a solid foundation to apply these ideas in their own games.
