Tal against Stockfish: sacrifice and calculation
Tal's Legacy in Modern Chess
Mikhail Tal turned attack and sacrifice into a true art form. His combinations didn't just rely on calculation; they were also born from extraordinary intuition, a deep understanding of initiative, and a unique ability to pose difficult problems for the opponent.
In this course, Grandmasters Diego Flores and Andrés Rodríguez analyze different facets of Tal's chess legacy and its relevance in modern chess. Across six classes, you will study the conditions that justify a sacrifice, objectively incorrect sacrifices that can still be effective in practice, attacks with the king still in the center, and the delicate balance between intuition and calculation.
The journey also includes a fascinating contrast between the styles of Mikhail Tal and Rashid Nezhmetdinov, known as the "human Stockfish," to understand different ways of approaching attack and combination.
A course designed for players who want to expand their creativity, improve their attacking skills, and learn to make brave decisions in complex positions.
